Everyone currently has gone Gatsby mad and is stuck in the 1920’s as we’ve all been waiting eagerly for the long awaited Great Gatsby film and it’s finally here. I know it’s been a while since I’ve done a nail art tutorial with me living in the big smoke and being caught up in exams and all. Hopefully these wonderful Gatsby inspired art deco nails will make up for it, so let’s get started!
What you’ll need/what I used: L-R: Nail varnish remover, Boots Basecoat, Sally Hansen Insta-dry top coat, Ciate Ladylike luxe 059 gold nail varnish and a black nail art pen.
Step one: Paint your nails one thin coat of basecoat to protect the natural nails and to prevent staining.
Step two: Paint all your nails a gold colour. (This may require two coats)
Step three: After all the gold has dried take your black nail art pen and draw a vertical black line in the middle of the nail and two more lines either side. Make sure the center line is slightly thicker than the other two.
Step four: After the vertical lines have dried. Draw a diagonal ‘V’ shape and then on top another smaller diagonal ‘V’ shape, but make sure the base diagonal V is bigger, so they sit on top of one another. Then mirror the process and repeat on the other side.
Step five: Once all the nails have completely dried paint on a topcoat to protect your designs and prevent them from chipping.
And that’s it! You now have sleek and stylish 1920’s Great Gatsby nails that will jazz up any occasion.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial!
